Ozark Series Finale: The Perfect “Not-So Perfect” Ending

When my wife and I got married more than twenty years ago, we were basically just kids. More accurately, we were in that transitional phase of life where we weren’t kids anymore, but we didn’t quite understand the complexities of adult living. We were young, in college, broke as joke, and the world was our oyster.

When we tied the knot, we didn’t have much of a plan for a honeymoon beyond staying overnight at a bed and breakfast in a small town a mere 30 minutes from the church where we said our vows. You can imagine our surprise when an old friend of my wife’s family gifted a week’s stay at any location on their time share. A couple months before the big day, my wife and I explored the different locations. One of the constraints we had was that we couldn’t fly. Remember, we were on a very tight budget, and no one had gifted us plane tickets. As a result, we settled on a condo in Osage Beach, a small city tucked away in a Missouri reservoir known as Lake of the Ozarks.

Over the last couple decades, I haven’t thought much about Osage Beach or the Ozarks. My wife and I enjoyed our honeymoon, but let’s be real — Lake of the Ozarks is not the ideal honeymoon destination for most couples. If I’m being honest, from the standpoint of a madly in love 20-year-old college student, the location was beautiful in a lot of ways, but…
